PEOPLE OF THE 21st CENTURY, in progress

This series is based on August Sander’s publication People of the 20th Century, an influential collection of portraits which formed an archive of the occupations, archetypes, and social constructs of Weimar Germany. The series is arranged using the same model employed by Sander, but the subjects of the images are all HO Scale figures made by Preiser, a German manufacturer of model trains. Curiously, the figures are packaged and labeled largely using the same general categorizations employed by Sander and reflect a miniature world filled with stereotypes, hierarchies, and views into the occupations and  archetypes of the 21st Century as revealed through toys.

THE ADVENTURES OF BETTY THE BLOW-UP DOLL, 1997-99

This is an on-going project I worked on from 1998- 2000 in the form of a photo based comic strip following the experiences and misadventures of an inflatable protagonist, "Betty the Blow-Up Doll." Ultimately, 8 series of comics were completed.
